Earnings claims online are either one national number or a fantasy. Here is how pay is actually built and what it comes to in each type of city, based on the bands we publish on every JobHarbor job page.
How one order is paid
Base fare (₹15–30 depending on company and city) plus distance pay per kilometre, plus waiting pay at the store when it runs slow. Customer tips are yours in full. Surge multipliers apply automatically in rain, on match nights and during festival evenings, often adding 20–50% per order.
Monthly bands by city type
Metro (Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune): ₹35,000–₹50,000 full-time. Big city (Jaipur, Lucknow, Indore, Surat, Nagpur, Bhopal, Kochi and similar): ₹35,000–₹45,000. Towns and smaller cities: ₹35,000–₹45,000. Part-time evenings only: roughly 35–45% of the full-time figure.
Incentives
Weekly targets (for example 80, 120, 160 orders) unlock bonuses of ₹700–1,600. Logging in through both the lunch and dinner peaks is the single biggest driver of hitting them. Consistency also improves slot access on platforms that book slots.
Costs to subtract
Petrol: ₹100–150 a day inside a compact zone; an electric scooter cuts this to almost nothing. One-time kit: ₹500–1,000. Phone data: ₹200–300 a month. Everything else — insurance on duty, the app, training — is provided.
The maths for a typical week
A metro rider doing 5 pm–11 pm six days a week completes 18–22 orders a day at an average of ₹45–55 per order including distance, plus a weekly incentive. That is ₹5,000–7,000 a week gross, ₹4,000–6,000 after fuel — in line with the part-time band.

Is the income taxable?
You are an independent partner. Platforms deduct TDS above thresholds; PAN is required for this reason.
Do earnings drop in summer or monsoon?
Monsoon usually raises earnings through rain surge. Extreme summer afternoons are slow; the evening peak still pays.
